Music Videos - Things To Consider
· What representations you wish to contrast?
I need to contrast at least two different representations, in order to fulfil the brief. For my music video I have chosen to contrast gender and age, both allowing me to create a strong narrative.
· What song to use for my music video?
I need to use a song that lasts at least three minutes. This is owing to the brief which states that my music video has to been at least three minutes long. My chosen artist is Martin Garrix so I need to find a song that is both fitting the genre and at least three minutes long.
· Has your chosen song already have a music video?
My chosen song by Martin Garrix cannot have a pre-existing music video. Therefore, I must search on the internet and conclude which song to use from my possible list.
· What Narrative will you include in your video?
I intend for my music video to contain a narrative that helps to raise awareness of homelessness within modern day Britain. I believe this is a prevalent issue, one that is too easily ignored by the wider media and the establishment. The Narrative must contain two contrasting characters and be befitting for your song of choice.
· Who are you going to include in your video (casting)
Casting is an essential part of my music video, as they are the characters who will help to drive both my narrative and representations. I must include at least two characters. I must plan carefully who I wish to include owing to their acting talent and availability to film.
· What editing software to use when editing?
Editing is a crucial part of the music video, where effects can be added that deepen a narrative which can influence the audience. Owing to their being a crowded market of editing software, I am looking to use one that is both free and reliable. iMovie, form the off start has seen to be my preferred option owing to it being readily installed into Apple Mac’s and the positive experiences that I have had with it on previous projects.
